We all have a statutory duty to Safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

Every pupil should feel safe and protected from any form of abuse. The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The Academy will take all reasonable measures to fulfil this responsibility.

If you have any concerns about the health and safety of a child or feel that something may be troubling them, you should share this information with the appropriate member of the safeguarding team straight away.  Some issues e.g. a child’s appearance, hygiene, general behaviour, can be shared with any teacher or member of staff within the school. Do not worry that you may be reporting small matters, we would rather you tell us things which turn out to be small, than miss a worrying situation.  However, if you think the matter is very serious and may be related to a child protection concern, e.g. physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect, you must talk to Mrs Barbara Crawshaw or Mr Dave Hall by contacting the school office on 0114 2723624.

School work with professionals to help families get support that they require. School can refer to a Multi-Agency Support Team (MAST) who can work with us to identify what support is required. On some occasions school will need to work with the family to do a Family Common Assessment Framework (FCAF) which gathers information about the whole family.
