Research shows that homework has little impact on primary aged children’s learning and progress unless it is to rehearse and practise. Our expectations reflect this and pupils will be given home learning each week depending on their age. Typically they will have weekly reading, spelling and maths homework. Click on your child’s class to find Home Learning expectations.
It is important that your child has a break from school work when they get home. Take time as a family to enjoy being together. Mental health is just as important as your child’s physical health and their education.
What is important is that your child has a positive attitude towards learning and values their education. Vocabulary building and reading are crucial to your child’s success in future years so spend time talking and sharing stories, poems and books.
English as an additional language?
Lucky you! At Atlas Academy we value your home language and encourage you to use it with your child. Our school community speaks a wide range of languages and we are proud of this gift we have.
