Admissions to Byron Wood Academy

We operate an “open door” policy and prospective parents are welcome to visit the school. Please contact the school office to make an appointment prior to your visit.

Reception Admission

Astrea Academy Trust is the admissions authority and the school follows Astrea Academy Trust Admissions Policy. Children whose fifth birthday falls between the 1st of September and the 31st of August will normally be admitted to full-time schooling in a reception class in September. Children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st March and the end of August can, if they choose, be admitted to full-time schooling in a reception class later in January. All admissions to school at age five or above are administered through Sheffield County  Council (“the LA”).

To register for a place at nursery, please ask at the school office where your child’s details will be taken.  These will be passed to Mrs Alison Walton (Early Years Leader) who will contact you just before your child’s third birthday to arrange admission.  If your child is already three, Mrs Walton will contact you as soon as a space becomes available. Most children join the nursery in September but we do sometimes have spaces during the year.  If you have questions or would like to visit the nursery, please ring 0114 272 3624 and ask to speak to Mrs Alison Walton.

Parents please note – A place in our nursery does not automatically guarantee a place for your child in our reception. A full application must still be made via the local authority adhering to the relevant deadlines detailed in the link above.
